This is for a story. I'd like the character to be able to use his credit card to charge something, but not be able to use it for a cash advance. Is that situation possible?
Yes, that is up to the credit card issuer. Some people may not qualify for cash advance on the cards.
Yes, that's up to the card issuer.

Is there a way I can set up the screener to search stocks that have begun to creep up after bottoming out? For instance: how about finding a stock thats currently up about 3%today after trending down maybe 10% in the past 3-4 days.. something like that. I usually look at charts one by one but that takes a long time.

I'm a self taught swing trader who doesn't know "investing 101" terms or lingo, but I've become very good at reading charts and news and picking winners. I just want to learn more. Thanks.
Im not familiar with Google's finance section, I use Yahoo and Scottrade. But I doubt they have anything like that because Yahoo and Scottrade don't. The closest thing that Yahoo has for that is "most actives" and "unusual volume" under Market Statistics
http://finance.yahoo.com/marketupdate?u

Also, if you just started trading stocks this year, a warning message: I started trading in 2005. In 2006 I was up $20,000 from daytrading (most of which were swing trades). In 2007 I was up $17,000. In 2008 I was down $12,000. It's easy to pick winners right now because the entire market has been doing good for most of this year, but its much harder to pick winners in a downtrend. I thought I was so smart and good at daytrading, until the downtrend arrived. I learned that the hard way. I think there will be another big one within the next 6 years.
No, there no such system to find uptrends by using yahoo screener.

So for now, its the old way, watch the charts and make your decision or pay for service where top grade analysts can pick stocks that are going to shoot up.like I do. Plus get great investment tips you cannot find on your own. Thousands are profiting from being in the inner circle. It takes the hard work out.
Back in the 1990's there were years where people made good money in the market that considered themselves "self taught". If that means no clue what terms means & reading no books and articles…. you're in for a rude awakening. This market… since March.. has been fairly easy.

There are several good screeners out there. I use "HotScans" from MarketGuage (http://www.marketgauge.com). It costs about $75 a month. It works great and you can tailor it to your specific needs. It's mostly used for intra day trading. It's great for finding retracements as well as stocks moving quiclky. It won't do you much good if you truly don't understand technical analysis.

Something that will work for you may be VectorVest (http://www.vectorvest.com/).

Both programs have free or low cost trials.

If you don't have a grip on money management……. the market will eventually kill you…. no matter how good you think you are.

How to use credit cards?

What are the things should be remember while using credit card?
Using your credit card responsibly means recognizing which things you need and which you just want.
If you can’t pay the amount in time just call your creditor, briefly explain the situation, and ask that any late fees be waived.
Stay within 30% of your credit limit.
Evaluate the interest rate on your credit card periodically to be sure you are getting the best deal possible.
Use them responsibly. What does this mean be able to pay them off each month or maintain a small balance $200 on one or two at the most. What a credit card is used for is emergencies or temporary financing of some item. People get into trouble when they start financing this and that and more only to find out they over extended themself and can't pay it down. Then they get into a hole with a real emergency and only dig deeper. Use them wisely and pay them off. also you will want to make sure you use any you have at least once or twice every three months so your credit score doesn't get penalized. Be cautious. Good luck
Don't.

When I was 18, I got one. It was for "emergencies only." 14 years later, I get my bill and apparently pizzas, good times, clothes, etc. were emergencies back then. I swear I am still financing a Big Mac from 2003 :(
Keep your balance at under half your limit an make your payments on time. Don't make the minimum payment. Make at least twice that.

I would invest 50% of it in corporate or municipal bonds which currently yield around 10% and would let that earn an easy $50,000 a year for probably the rest of my life.

I would take 10% of it and donate it to charities that further financial education and provide water to drought ravaged countries.

I would put 20% of it in my emergency savings fund and reinvest the remaining 20% back into whatever let me make the first $1,000,000.
buy a cottage for my entire family to enjoy, buy my parents a house and repay their debt, take them to vimy ridge in france (because that's where my mom wants to go)… I would probably also donate alot of money to Alzheimers research because my grandmother died of alzeimers last august. Honestly I would give a majority of my earnings to my parents because they deserve it! But i would obviously treat myself to an insane shopping spree!
Hang on to it like a son of a gun.Don't get married because half could be gone just like that. Saying "I do" could cost you half. You could use it to finance other peoples real estate projects and earn at least 15% interest on your money.Find a good mortgage broker in your area to make loans through. They will find the borrowers for you and also provide proper documentation and protect your interest. All of this costs you nothing. All costs are paid by the borrower. The mortgage broker will handle collections for you and deposit them into your account.Good luck
Invest the $ wisely and conservatively to make sure I'd be ensured a modest living for the 'next' 10 years of my life, and then spend that next 10 years chasing my dream of being a pianist.
buy a nice house , a super speacial awesome car, many electronical gadgets, make a game room in the house(pool arcade and stuff) a bar.
a home gym…
Like most irresponsible people here on Yahoo answers, I would have spent it as soon as I made it, and never accumulated a million dollars. : )
Take a 2 week vacation to an exotic island. Then I would just keep the rest and never worry about paying for food, house, college, etc ever again
pay the mortgage, new car, food, vacation, clothes, new cell phone, etc.
Treat myself to some cool stuff, and treat my parents/friends. Then put some away, and get down to business on expenses. :D
I would buy a 30 ft deep sea fishing boat and go to Mexico and live on the beach is a humble beachhouse and kick back.
Invest most of it, so I have another million in a few years, and use the rest to pay off any debts/mortgages I have.
have it invested for retirement
travel the world first class for 6 months

im 16 years old, already have an ebay account
to sell, i need to make a paypal
to make a paypal, i went and made a Natwest Adapt account
i have just made a paypal account but need to link a credit card to sell

main question is, can i use my Natwest Adapt account to sell on ebay?

if yes, which category does it fall under? (visa/maestro/solo etc)
Probably as I use mine to buy stuff from Ebay though I said I was 18

You might as well try and see if it works and it falls under the solo catergory, I know its confusing since it says maestro but I put it as a solo card.

Hope that helped!
You don't need a credit card to use ebay as a seller or buyer or to use paypal.

I am a seller and buyer and have never used a credit card.
I use my Visa Electron and Visa Debit card

Whatever debit card Natwest gave you, then use that, so Solo or Visa or Switch etc
Yes!

Can I use my old checks?

I stopped writing checks years ago. I have had my current bank account for about 4 years. I was with Bank One and it changed to Chase. Can I still use my checks? The routing and account numbers are still the same. I need to pay my rent online and I'd rather not pay the extra fees they tag on for paying by any method other than an e-check.
As long as the routing number and bank account number is the exact same….yes you can. I asked my cousin who is sitting right here and she works on a teller line. But, you should write a check for cash and go to the bank to be sure they will accept the checks with the old name. There should be no problem.
sa long that you got money in the other account it shouldnt be no problem, but the bank doestnt than open another account Report Abuse
Hi,
You need to ask your bank, at a certain point they stop accepting the old bank's checks.

Yes. The Walmarts here accept both the cards and the little sheets that specify what you have to buy. I don't know what they are called but i'm sure you do.

It might be different in your state, but i'm sure they accept them nationwide since itis a nationwide store.
yes
I think it is a debit card now.
