Cliff's answer is correct: http://AnnualCreditReport.com . The sites that advertise on TV are trying to get you to sign up for other services.
To be *really* safe, start at the Federal Trade Commission web site: http://ftc.gov/freereports and follow the link.
You will need a SSN, though. Safe enough through the legitimate web site.

So i work at this fancy restaurant.
Yes it's expensive so our guests expect perfect foods and service.
One day my friend told me that she found my name on this city review site.
there are 24 reviews about our restaurant and one of them is talking about my bad service.
it's anonymous so i don't know who wrote it but the person wrote my name….how horrible i am and that everyone should avoid me.
This is not fair. now i'm scared to work at my restaurant.
How should i solve this problem?
Simple: By proving them wrong by being the best server you can be. Then when someone sees that review they will write one also calling that person out on the lie and defending you.
Don't be scared, there will always be mean people out there that will screw with you. For whatever reason they wrote that review, it's up to you now to prove them wrong.
It is fair. One person out of the hundreds of people you've served didn't like you. Get over it.
I've tried just about every site out there and the best site that have actually paid me is,
http://tu.nu/4a/11/ab
I've already made $1000 in cash & prizes without spending a penny.
*******US, UK, & CANADA ONLY*******
It’s free to join, they don't ask for your social security number, and you don't need a credit card like most other sites. You don't need to refer a single person in order to receive any of your prizes/payments. And most importantly, it's not a SCAM and I can prove it. But you can get paid by check, you can have the money sent instantly to your PayPal account ($1 min.), E-Gold account, Alert account, Liberty Reserve account, or you can spend your points that you earn to buy anything you want on Amazon.
A few ways that you can earn points by completing offers, surveys, playing games or referring other people. But most of the offers are quick, very easy to do, and 100% Free.
*******VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ*******
Your account will be blocked if you create multiple accounts or if you sign-in on another ip address. All of your Cash & Points earned will be lost.
STEPS FOR SIGNING UP
1. Copy/Paste http://tu.nu/4a/11/ab
2. Click on the banner that says, "It's Fun and Free Sign Up."
3. Fill out the information with your valid name/address/email etc. (So that way they know where & who to ship your prizes/payments. Once you're done they'll send you an email that you'll need to confirm in order to participate.
4. Don't forget, you get 250 points for free!!! Use that 250 points to order the "Dollar Prize" for 144 points. This will verify your account and take you to the bronze level. Also, you should at least try one offer to show you that it really works!

I have just now placed two orders online for some things and agreed to pay with money order since I'm 18 but don't have a credit card yet. What do I do? They sent me an invoice, am I supposed to just print that out, put a money order in there from Wells Fargo, and mail it to them?
I could contact them but I don't want to seem like a n00b. Please help if you can.
You're unfortunately about to be scammed, in my opinion. The receiver of the money order can just cash it and never send you anything and laugh while doing so. There's lots of scammers on the internet. Most reputable sellers don't even take money orders as a form of payment - they are too easy to fake. (See, the scam can work both ways). But you sound like you are honestly thinking about sending someone an authentic money order - the question you need to ask yourself is - 'Is the anonymous person I bought stuff from on the internet going to really send me the items?'
————-
Basically, you should just use a prepaid VISA gift card and only use reputable sites like Amazon.com. Ebay, for example, is just a hell-hole of scammers nowadays in my opinion - I call that site 'scam central'.
I'm trying to apply for Care Credit, it wouldn't hurt to at least see if I can get it. Even if I get denied. Which will probably be the case. What does it mean by 'Merchant #'? Because I don't have one of those…
Merchant # usually has to do with having a business. Skip that part if it doesn't apply to you.
Remember, though, by applying and having this place run your credit report, it WILL affect your credit score, because it is considered a *hard pull*. Your score may go down 3 to 10 points because of the inquiry. If you have too many inquiries, it makes it harder to obtain credit. So, when you comment that "it wouldn't hurt to at least see if I can get it…" that isn't necessarily true. If you don't get it, it WILL hurt your score.
This is for part of my project. Hope you can answer honestly and bit descriptively if can.
I do. You can get better deals online most of the time. Plus there are services like tripleclicks that pay you back for shopping at stores like Wal-Mart, Best Buy and others.
As far as payment goes, PayPal is great. You just set up a virtual account. When you go to pay for your products paypal creates a one time use credit card number to enter. The amount is deducted from you account and the number is no longer valid. It is the ultimate in protection.
Yes, I do.. There are few super online stores available. I love to buy things from amazon and ebay. Basically I am a programmer so I do buy hosting plans and domains mostly. But make sure, you are at the correct site not the scam one.
You can follow this link to find some great legit sites :
www.cashfindforum.com
I do, but only when I have a 3v voucher (its like a credit card that you put a small amount of money on, so if someone steals your details online they won't get any money off you, whereas if they got your real credit card they would.) However I generally don't unless I absolutely can't get it in a shop- I like being able to see what I'm buying in front of me.
I have before and I don't anymore. I bought a dress from Nordstroms online once, and it was too small, and it came without tags so I couldn't return it. And shipping is a rip off.
I'm wondering if its illegal to make something and try to sale it online like ebay or something. I want to use the money I make and donate it to the charity of my choice. could this be illegal?
It's not illegal to sell things on line.
If it's a craft or something like that, try Etsy.com. That's the best place to sell homemade items.
Oh, and by the way, "sale" is a noun. "Sell" is a verb.
If you know right work at home information and way, diet is easy. If you are serious, you must have easy work at home way that works for you. I highly recommend you my work at home way for you. I make very good income everyday and it is very easy. You can do it too. You can get more information from link below.
There might be tax consequences to doing this, but other than that, why would it be illegal???
It's not illegal to make things and sell them online, UNLESS the thing you want to make is
illegal.
Anyone having experience working in online/offline data entry jobs? Can anyone Share his/her experience about working in Global Infotech,Kolkata ?
Hi Friend,
I also was looking for such opportunities but found that 99% of these sites are fraud. As they take your hard earned money and don't pay you. You can't do anything against them. So I request that if any company asking you to pay upfront for these type of jobs then please don't pay them. Make some research before dealing with them.
If you want real online jobs like data entry, forum posting and other projects then
I think you can do these type of jobs 100 free without investing a single penny and they pay 100% to everyone and most trusted companies in the world.
You can do freelance data entry jobs at

Never pay any upfront and I have not found any genuine site like though I have searched the net for about 2 years. Instead you can try with Google ad sense, a best way.
What do you think about online masters certificate programs from bigger name universities? I am graduating soon with a BA in sociology and want to go on into Human Resources.
These also earn you credits towards degrees like an MBA at a college near me like University of Pittsburgh, etc.
Whenever adding it to my resume, I would not have to put anything about it being online I could just write (example): Master's Certification, HR Management, Cornell University
The school website even states that there will be nothing dictating that it was an online school in your certificate.
It prepares you as well to take the HR certification and most HR Manager jobs I am seeing prefer or require this certification, it's called the Professional in Human
Resources (PHR®) or the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) exam toward
certification by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
The Villanova Masters Cert program:

Here is the same from Cornell University online:

They require a Bachelors:

What do you think, would these be a wise investment to tack on to my current student loans? It might bump me up to more job opportunities?
Help?
any educational achievement helps.. especially if it will not specifically state it was from online, but at the same time, with a lot of universities, to help save operating costs and with a growing need for working parents to go back to school, cashing in on the internet programs, as well as straight internet colleges now, businesses are more accepting of accredited internet degrees. I say go for it, it cannot hinder you at all. Even with the added student loan burden, you are right noting that it will open you up to better, higher paying jobs where that will not be an issue
If you're a student your issues can be many and varied, from Deciding upon your career track to landing a part time job. The resource in the box below has lots of guidance for students, and they have info about job searching aswell.
- I am planning to sell an online resume writing service and would like to accept payments online, how should I open a merchant account to accept online payments including paypal.
- how can I make the service most convenient?
- what's the best web hosting service and why? any rating? I like mocahost.com but I am still not sure.
Thanks!
I can tell you have done some research into the needs of your new venture. Congratulations!
I can highly recommend an online course, http://elearning.sitesell.com/bz.html, that takes you through the steps of starting a successful online business by the hand.
Each week, a new section is covered by a real live Instructor that has a proven track record for online success. You will cover topics such as getting organic traffic to your new website, how to assure your website is SEO friendly, and best of all how to determine if there is demand for your site theme.
Included in the course is a full year of hosting, a domain name of your choice, and all the tools required for online success.
You have many choice ahead of you when starting an online business, and it's comforting to know that you can have a whole community of like-thinkers (over 75,000 world wide) backing you up.
-To open a merchant account you just go to http://www.paypal.com and follow their instructions.
You will need a checking account to do this and (recommended) a credit card.
This could be any credit card or even a good prepaid, such as:
http://www.esuperfind.com/prepaidvisa.php?id=hra0tt16koo9
-To make the service most convenient you create an easy to navigate site that explains clearly what you do, how you do it, what your references are, including samples of your work etc.
The best way is to took at competitors and see how they do it.
-For a great web host I fully stand by http://www.3freedomainnames.computereweb.com?id=m3y227 because they are reliable, very cheap, they don't oversell and currently are the only one on the market to offer: multiple IP addresses, as well as unlimited everything.
I have been using them for a long time for various businesses that just *cannot* go offline.
I like yahoo because it's cheap and super easy to set-up a simple site.
I also like godaddy.com they are easy once you get used to them.
