I'm finishing up my associate's in Interactive Media and I thought it's what I wanted to do for so long. But now I don't like it at all and I have no passion whatsoever! That money is not wasted! Things you learnt there will still be of use some time some day. I have personally known of many people who have completed their engineering studies but decided not to become an engineer. But they are all still happy.

To me, it does not means you have to do what you study. It is the learning experience you got from it that matters. In fact 70% of the people do not do what they study.

I recently won a prize of $800 for a college contest. I have no other income and I've never filed income tax. How does this all work? What am I supposed to do? Dear AV: If you research IRS Pub 17 you will find you do not need to report the winnings as you do not have a filing requirement. If your parents still claim you on their taxes you would have to win over $5000 to trigger a filing requirement. You would be in the 10% bracket and there is no sales tax on gambling winnings. If you are a dependent, your filing requirement on unearned income is $900 if this was your only income for the year. Since your win is less than that, there's no need to file and no tax will be due.

If you are not a dependent, your filing requirement rises to $9,350 for 2009, whether it's earned or unearned income. Again, no need to file as you are well below that amount.

Listen sweetie, take a couple bucks from that $10 you made from Chelsea to the nearest store. Buy a bag of candy you know your classmates will like, sell each piece of candy to your school mates for a quarter a piece.
The first few days the kids might not have any money but they will start to bring some as long as you bring that candy back every day and DON'T GIVE ANY AWAY FOR FREE! No one is going to buy it if they think you'll give it to them for free at the end of the day.

You take the money you make, buy another bag of candy and put what is left together with what was left from that $10 in a safe place AT HOME.

Hi if I were you I would try to find a job dog walking or babysitting. I dis dog walking over the summer and made 50 bucks a week. For babysitting I make around 40-70 bucks a visit. You could also do lawn mowing or rakeing peoples lawns.

You're unfortunately about to be scammed, in my opinion. The receiver of the money order can just cash it and never send you anything and laugh while doing so. There's lots of scammers on the internet. Most reputable sellers don't even take money orders as a form of payment - they are too easy to fake. (See, the scam can work both ways). But you sound like you are honestly thinking about sending someone an authentic money order - the question you need to ask yourself is - 'Is the anonymous person I bought stuff from on the internet going to really send me the items?'
