…. Ok Thanks guys and also my price range is about 400-500$ any suggestions where to buy one?

H
Ok…well…the computer you pick out is a very good computer, it has windows vista, which is the newest version of windows, and its also very user friendly. The computer also has a 64-bit operating sistem which isn't the best, but its still good…And it has a webcam and speakers so you and your friends can chat as much as you want. I think this computer is very good and now I think I might get this because i too was looking for a laptop. I hope I helped :) But the price is 550$, so its a bit out of the price range, but i bet if you look this computer up on amazon.com or something you'll find a good offer. :)
Yes. This computer does have a Speaker. But, I would recommend a Macbook. Now, they start at $1000. But, it is not that hard to find a used Macbook Air online for as little as $600 You could even find an good used Macbook for as little as $400. That way, you could use the video camera and talk to friends for free. With that computer that you are looking at, Windows will require you to buy time. Apple's iChat is completely free, and extremely easy to use.
Hi Tanya,

If you spend $100 more then your budget you can get this very good laptop for chatting on webcam.

Also you can surf other sites like http://www.techbargains.com to get good deals for you…

Hope this helps…

Julie
Nice Laptop, though might want to look into the pixel quality on the webcam.

So, I was planning to bring my portable DVD player on my flight to entertain myself but I found out that it is broken. Bah. So I can't use that. I do have a laptop, but I don't know if I want to bring that on the plane, what are some pros/cons reasons that I should bring my laptop on the plane?

Thanks!
Here are some pros/cons

Pros: The Dvd player on a laptop is usually better than a dvd player and has a larger screen. You can do other things on it also. The Battery life of a laptop is longer than a portable dvd player.

Cons: A laptop is not as portable and can get lost easily, you have to check it in at security at every stop, and if you lose any component (Charger, battery, mouse, etc.)it becomes practically useless and it is a great hassle to get it back.

Overall, i guess it depends on whether you are organized or not, if you are, then you can go ahead and bring it, if you're not, it isn't a very good idea.

Hope this helps!
It has it's pros and cons as to how long your flight is and how long your battery will last. Some planes have power ports for plugging in laptops which works out great for long flights. When I was traveling overseas I always carried my laptop as I had a power port and could watch movies or listen to my cd's. It's more of choice of having something to entertain you for awhile even if does go dead on you halfway through your flight. Look at the brighter side you can always recharge it and have for your return flight.
One con is they have the right to take it apart.

Dont worry about it being confiscated cos that never happens, but they do sometimes like to take all the panels of it and jiggle stuff.

As per actual usage, the only con I can think of is battery life (unless yours has a spare)
It's extra luggage, people can see what your doing, & hopefully U have good battery power. A lot of this depends on the length of the flight. Usually, jus an Ipod will suffice. There will B an on flight movie, but it'll probably suck.
Pros: Still being able to watch dvds
Not having to rent an airport dvd player

Cons: Battery life isn't as long (no outlet to plug it in)
Remembering to boot up in "airplane mode"
Bigger for your lap
some planes have wifi available during the flight.
Umm. What the ****? pros / cons? Mmm k. As long as you dont have internet but ur laptop has a dvd drive then bring it.
why not?!

Its a Fujitsu Siemens laptop and on the keyboard it has brightness controlls but when pressed they don`t seem to work., responce appreciated.
Fn Brightness Control
there should be a key labeled Fn on the bottom left of the keyboard close to alt or ctrl. press that key and the brighness key on the keyboard usually the down arrow and thre you have it.
It would probably be under your settings as well, but I would just try to hold down the brightness buttons and wait. Good luck!
Mine you have to hold down the fn key, on the left side, before the brightness will work, try that.
Usually you have to use the Function key together with the brightness key to change screen brightness.
Press and hold the Fn key then press the brightness key.
That brand doesn't have an option for that.
try Fn the Up arrow (:

for some reason. icon's in the quick launch bar keep disappearing
ones like the sound control and the icon that show's my internet connection
im using Window's Vista
does anyone know how i can get them back?
please help.
Kari
Right click the Windows icon (bottom left of your screen ) Choose properties select taskbar tick all boxes except(autohide taskbar)
in notifcation icon and toolbar icon choose what you want remember to apply your toolbar is now locked
Sounds like you have 'hide inactive icons' enabled. To change this, right click the task bar and click properties and click on the notification area tab and untick 'hide inactive icons'. System icons should also be in the same tab, so just select the icons you want made visible.

For quick launch icons on the taskbar, simply unlock the taskbar and drag the arrow icon right to reveal the icons.

————————

Right click the task bar at the bottom of the screen on the desktop and click properties. Do not use the control panel!
hai ,first of all u have check whether that particular software has been install proply or not .or might be virus probl. u have to scan ur whole drive by antivirus software which should be up to date.
you need to right click the taskbar and press properties. click on the notification bit and deselect the hide inactive icons bit . .
i have a vista laptop and its been doing that too try right clicking on the menu bar and click properties and click notification area it lets you pick wich ones you wanna show
Try clicking the little thing that looks like this (<<) on the side of the bar.
It brings up more options

I have a Laptop HP it has vista, i can need help to conenct to the interenet, like a step by step thanks.
im not very good with technology
In the bottom right hand corner there is like 2 little computers probably with an x next to them click on that then a pop up will appear and you click connect to a network then you home network should appear click on it then click connect it will probably ask you for a WEP key put that in (the WEP key is found underneath the router or round the back.
Get yourself an internet server, then phone for technical support. They are very helpful and patient. Or you can call a computer service and a technician will come to your home.

Download 1-click you tube downloader from http://download.cnet.com/1-Click-YouTube-Downloader/3000-2071_4-10770616.html?tag=mncol .Install this software and while watching that video in youtube just copy the link from the address bar and paste on the 1-click youtube downloader and it will start downloading that song/video.
well if u have firefox u can get a add-on called unplug this add-on helps u download videos on specific sites even if the option is not available.

and if u dont have firefox this is imposible but heres a link where to get firefox

www.Mozilla.com/Firefox3.5

this will bring u to google (just click the first link) and heres the link for unplug the add-on

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/latest/2254/addon-2254-latest.xpi

they both work i'v checked them
Very easy to Use E.M. Youtube video download tool.

It works great and easy to use.

It can download video from youtube , myspace, veoh, yahoo or any other video websites autoamtically.

It can also convert flv video to any audio include MP3, wma,wav,ac3,mmf,amr,ogg,aac…, to any video formats include 3gp,avi,wmv, mpg,mpg4,asf,swf,h264,mov,jpg, that can be support by PSP,iPod,iPhone,Apple TV video,iTune,MP3,MP4,Zune,Cellphone,Digit… camera,DV,CD/DVD/VCD/SVCD.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&newwindow=1&q=E.M. Youtube video download&btnG=Search
use savetube.com and then it will download the video to your desktop. Then you'll need to use a video converter in order to convert it to a playable file. You can get trial versions byy searching for "Video Converter" on a search engine.
Try zamzar. It works for me.

Can someone help with a Laptop?

I know nothing about a laptop at all. Can some one who knows look at this link and tell me if this computer will meet my needs.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9357956&type=product&id=1218090589731

I just want to use the computer for research, working in word and excel and occasionally watching a movie from netflix or a music video.

How do laptops get internet service, how does the internet service go with you?

Do I need to purchase any accessories or do I need to buy anything else with this computer?

Thanks to all who answer in advance.
Yeah, it's fine for your needs.

Laptops get internet either the same way as a desktop (with an ethernet cord from the modem), or wirelessly using WiFi.

For wireless internet in your home, you'll need to buy a wireless router (from any electronics store). It connects to the modem to send the internet signal into the air. Your laptop has a receiver chip inside it that catches the signal and connects you to the internet.

It doesn't go with you. A home router typically has a range of about 50 feet. Some stores have Wifi "hot spots" where you can connect either for free, or after you pay. Starbucks, for example. If you go to college, your campus will almost certainly have wifi access everywhere.

You might want to buy a mouse. If you work as a desk a lot, then a mouse will be easier to use than the built-in track pad.
Yes u can buy that but first check If it has A 1 GB Ram minimum and dual core
Also laptop can get internet service by many ways.
Like Net connect by pendrive service. Connect and use it anywhere. It is Costly
Broadband- Connect it with wires and Use it. It is cheaper than others.
Wireless Connection- U can use it within the range of network like if the modem is in your floor than u can use it in tht floor.
Hi,
it should be just fine for your needs, but before you buy a Dell (i think they are over priced and have no upgrade path), please go to this site and see what you can get for the same money !!!!
a lot faster and higher spec for less
links
http://www.tigerdirect.com/

i just know this will help you (and get me the 10 points as well hopefully)
DO NOT buy a dell. They are cheap for a reason.
Go to:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834101180
That laptop should work for you. Internet on laptops is acquired through wireless networks or hooking up an ethernet cable. You will need to find a place that has a wireless network (ex home, public hot spot). If you need any more help please ask. =)

Laptop Mouse is going crazy?

When ever I try to move it. It acts crazy, if I try to go click on a link, it takes me like 4 minutes to get the mouse there. I don't know what's wrong with it. The laptop is in good condition. It doesn't move by it's self, it just doesn't go where I want it to. It only goes to like half the screen and then bounces back somewhere else.

What causes this?

How do I fix it?

thanks in advance. :)
clean it.
The mouse is operated by magnetic pulses from your finger. Maybe wipe down the pad with a damp cloth, and wash your hands. If the problem consists, take the laptop back where you got it from. Remember: take advantage of your 12 month warranty. Good luck :)
If its a plug in mouse change the surface its on, , clean it
if its your "finger mouse" try adjusting settings in control panel
Just download the INTELLIPOINT MOUSE PROGRAM.
try cleaning the mouse "pad" thing (where your finger goes) but don't use any Liquid to clean it

try and restarting your laptop

if all els fails call the company that made your laptop

good luck
maybe you are pressing to hard? too light?
the sensitivity is on too high?
a glitch in the mouse?
sound like its broken. i would try taking it to a repair shop to find out the problem.
mine does that when the battery is low.

This may sound simple, but I'm confused. I have an HP laptop. I want to be able to run it with an external monitor — which I did manage — but how do I do it using the keyboard/mouse AND closing the lid? I'm sure there is a very simple button to push, but 30 minutes later all I've managed is to shut down the computer three times.

HELP! LOL

Thanks in advance.
Go into control panel.. power settings.. somewhere in there (you didn't say which OS you're on), you'll find something like "When I close the lid"…
Change that to "Do Nothing"

With that being said, the "cooler" way is to use the laptop screen and the LCD as a dual monitor setup.. Have e-mail or internet up on one screen and have your work/game/whatever on the other.
well first you should check in a manual or instructions if they were included with the laptop but i think that you just press ctrl alt delete but i could be completely wrong good luck!!
