This happened to me and I just wonder why.
People on Facebook friend request other people just for the hell of it. They don't care who they are, just so long as they can put a face to the name, they friend request everyone they've ever met. A bunch of my friends have hundreds of "friends" yet only communicate in real life to a mere fraction of them. The others are there just because they're there.
I know exactly how you feel, I just posted a note on Facebook awhile ago talking about this why do they try to be your friend (on facebook or in real life)
Because they want nothing but the "numbers"! This is why Facebook is nothing more than a fraud! Get a life!
Because they are despret for friends. Some people just friend request people because they want alot of friends
because they want to be nosey and look at your stuff. (4real)
I really want a Facebook account. But my parents wont let me. I was aloud to have an aim account but they don't understand that its practically the same thing, just all my friends are on it. I cant go behind their back because I have 2 nosy, tate telling siblings. How can I convince them?
If they're computer savvy,Teach them how to use it and get them an account associated befriending yours and also your password/email so they know everything that goes on. Also tell em you'll keep your profile strictly private between you and your friends. And like other answerer' said if there's other people in your family network that they can trust and also have facebook tell em they can rely on them for references concerning your actions, it'd be a hassle to them though. lmao.
Get some of your relatives to go on there. Then have them tell your parents how it's harmless and a good way to keep in touch with nephews, nieces, cousins, etc.
say that they could get one so they can watch what you say.
I have my "friends" segmented into little lists. I have facebook chat selected to only display three groups. For some reason, facebook puts users who aren't in these three groups as "other friends".
Is there any way to keep certain people from showing up on my chat list? Some of my "friends" are annoying ONLY if I have chat turned on.
Thanks in advance.
sorry but no… the only way to get them off your chat list is to delete them as your friend. another route you could go is to put them al in a group called "losers" or like "people I don't want to talk to"
Alright so I got a notification saying that a friend commented on one of my photos and it gives me the link to my photo that they commented. But when I clicked the link to my picture, It doesn't say anyone commented. Can anyone explain this to me please?
They probably comment and then delete it.
sometimes it takes a really long time to load so just quit out of whatever program your using…ex…safari, firefox, and internet explorer. And then go back to the picture!! Also if this doesnt work…it means they deleted there comment, but its impossible to take back the notification that they already sent you about the comment…hope i helped!
The friend commented, but then deleted the comment. Facebook's "Notification" will show you that the friend commented, but the comment won't be there. (They really need to fix that, but I guess it's low-priority.)
After they left their comment, they decided to delete it leaving the notification still in your account.
similar thing happened to me. I think it's one of those fake things. I don't think it's really from facebook.
they probly deleted the comment hun
srry
your friend probably deleted the comment
does anybody know how i can reactivate my profile. i can't log in and i have no recollection of disabling it myself ):
please help.
oh and how can i send a message to facebook?
please and thank you(:
Click 'Help' at the very bottom of the Facebook page, then select a category that you need help in. Once you read what they have to say in the help file, you have the option of contacting a Facebook team member.
And why was it better?
I have been on facebook for like idk maybe a year n a half but was never really into in when i first got it so i never noticed a changed.
Thankkkks.
For me, the home page was just so much better. All the information was more towards the center of the page rather than the way it is now to the left. There was also less "white space" on the page. It just looked so much neater.
However, the profiles were undoubtedly crowded with a lot of information. The thing that I like about the new facebook is that it only displays relevant information. You can still access all the other stuff like the top friends and all with just a click on one of the tabs on the page.
Other than that, I wish it was the old one again that I could utilize on a daily basis.
I don't really know… mostly that the format just looks different, and now your feed shows what everyone writes on everyone else's walls (which is creepy- i changed my settings so it doesnt)
Mostly, people just complained because it sucks when it changes- we had just gotten it all figured out and then we had to learn again….
it now has games, applications, and other cool things to entertain oneself. The old FB simply was a lame way to brag off yourself. I had tons of real life contacts on it who LIED about their income, ect. I ended up posting a bunch of fake crap too like I was out curing cancer, ect.
I remember when Facebook was only for College students with a college email address. I've had my Facebook account for 5 1/2 years. The biggest difference now is the chat and status…that use to not be there.

it was like facebook but easier to understand and use. but its ok cos your used to this one
It was just a little different i really dont even remember what it was like
myspace beats facebook
i keep seeing it on facebook, how does it work? x
all it does is tell you the people who either comment or view your profile or like your status the most ….
hope i helped
i was confused at first but then it clicked
It doesn't actually do anything useful from the user's perspective.
It was clearly designed by someone who wanted to build market share by exploiting the paranoia and gullibility of many facebook users, and as such it seems to work a treat.
If you're gullible enough to think it's "stalking" when somebody looks at your facebook page (when YOU accepted them as a friend, and YOU put the facebook page up precisely so they could look at it!) then you're probably gullible enough to install anything someone tells you to.
under that app it explaints what it is..its not a stalker thing its just called that.
its based on who you talk to most and who you have conversations with/ who you interact most with…and then they say that those people are your stalkers(not true)
not a big deal really i think the app is kind of lame(no offence)
help me with my facebook question!! please
its stupid, i went on it and it just tells you the people that have accepted you as a friend and wrote on your wall. we know already
i think its just the people that most go on your page or comment on your status or wall, something like that x
I triend it the other day and it didnt work. Think it must b a load of s-hi-t xx
yeah it works and its freaky! people i didn't know where checking my page ! lol
in the top, click settings, then on the bottom select deactivate account
1. Make sure your Facebook account contains a contact e-mail address (such as Yahoo or Gmail).
2. Delete any college, high school, or work e-mail addresses listed in your Facebook account. Your contact e-mail should be the only address listed.
3. Deactivate your Facebook account. (Under Settings)
4. Register using an e-mail address other than your contact e-mail (a college, high school, or work e-mail is fine).
5. Once you are signed into your new Facebook account, add your contact e-mail address to the account. Open the link in the confirmation e-mail that has been sent. This step will wipe out your previous Facebook account, rendering it inaccessible.
Hope it helps you.
Look to your upper left just below your address bar it says
Your name Setting Logout
Now put your mouse on setting and 3 options will appear
Account setting
Privacy setting
Application setting
Click on account setting
Then you will get a page that has 6 tabs on it , you'll be directed to the right one
Then scroll down and it says deactivate account now go to your left and click the deactivate account words in tiny blue'
and then you give them a reason for why you're doing that and you submit. Hope it worked. I did it once but my account is still there. Stupid facebook.
you go to settings and click on account settings
scroll down to the bottom of the first page and it has deactivate account and u click on deactivate and follow the instructions
What does it mean to be a fan of something? Does it mean anything or it just shows ppl what you like? How do you start chatting with ppl on there? Where do you go to take quizzes?
When you become a fan of something, these things happen:
We shall refer to the "something" as Red, for easy referencing purposes.
1. Red's status updates show up on your homepage.
2. On the right side of the page, people will see "<blank> friends have become a fan of Red" (if a lot of friends are fans of Red).
3. On your profile, in "info" it shows all the things you are a fan of.
To start chatting with people, you have to invite friends. Then, when some of your friends are "online", a box will appear in the bottom right corner that will say "Chat (# of friends who are online)". Click on the box and a list of your online friends will pop up. Click on one of them to start chatting.
To take quizzes, type in "Quizzes" in the search bar but don't click search; rather, click the first item that appears below the search bar. That's where you can take all your quizzes. When your friends take quizzes you want to take too, you can click "Take this Quiz" next to their result.
It usually means, you get updates from it. Like, I'm a "fan" of Nalgene. They make plastic bottles - you know, the kind you carry when you're riding your bike. I get updates whenever they're having a plastic bottle exhibition. (Exciting, huh?) Or whenever they're having a contest you can enter to get a free plastic bottle - except that you have to go to their website to enter.
Or I'm a "fan" of Evernote (piece of software for PCs and Macs and iPhones). I get notices of updates.
Facebook in general means you get in touch with folks you know. You go find them, by name. They find you. You have control over how much information you reveal about yourself to allow people to find you, and you should CAREFULLY research how to control your privacy, so as to know how much you're revealing. Really! Be careful! Don't look at, just the help files. There's other places, not just FB, to read about it. FB gives you lots of control. Use it carefully. Important!
FB will also "suggest" people to be your friends based upon people who are already your friends and who have the suggested people as friends. (Like, Herbert is your friend and Herbert has Juanita as a friend but Juanita isn't your friend yet so FB suggest that you add Juanita as a friend.)
Quizzes will be suggested to you by friends, perhaps. To take the quizzes (which are automated little dealies) you have to reveal your privacy to the programs. Things like, "What kind of super hero would I be?" (and maybe the answer would be Spiderman or Wonderwoman or Hulk).
So basically what I want to do is like lock my account so no one can see my profile page including friends so it just says something like 'This account is Suspended', but only for a small amount of time, like 2 weeks. Is this actually possible?
I don’t want to get the admin to delete my account before any silly answers come in
but just an option that will allow me to do this, and control when it is viewable (my page).
Any help would be appreciated
Yes. You can deactivate it. My best friend deactivated hers for 2 months and brought it back and it still had all her old comments and what not.
In facebook select setting in the upper right hand corner. Then the last option deactivate account should close you account temporarily as you want allowing you to reopen it later retaining your content and friends.
