I recently got one of those subscriptions to the newspaper out side walmart. It was $19.99 for 16 weeks. I paid cash, the 16 weeks was up and we decided to keep subscribing and I used my credit card to extend but told them I didn't want my card billed when it was about to expire. They continued my subscription and then about 4 weeks later (not 16 like they said) they told me my subscription was about to end and the price had risen to keep it. I called to cancel it and they told me they would lower the price to the original $19.99 for 16 weeks. They billed my account $29.99 and then four weeks later I got billed automatically $29.99 again. I called them and they told me they would refund the money for me but it would take 30 days, I told them that was crap and talked to a supervisor who told me they would get it refunded within 3 days. It's been over a week now and I called my bank to dispute it and was told that I had given them permission to bill my account as they wish when I gave them my credit card numbers. I had TWO bank reps tell me that.

Is this true? I never gave them permission written or verbally to automatically bill my credit card when the subscription was over and they didn't even let me get to the end of my contract before they billed me………is that really true? did I really enter a contract?
Not as far as I have ever heard. Normally you should just be able to cancel the transaction whether they want it or not. A contract is usually written, with PROOF. Sounds like they are trying to con you, so I would suggest you toughen up and make a huge fuss O_O. I'm serious too, don't let them get away with it! You have your rights.
call the credit card company and dispute the bill and the double charges, and put a stop payment on all future charges from this company.
