My credit is around 600-700. I pay on time or monthly payments. A few months ago I charged 700 bucks on my card and im paying it off by i get a letter from chase saying they are to close my account. Im so confused, how the hell this happened? Can I open another card with a different bank, after they close my account?
CC providers every so often check the credit rating of their customers. If there is a significant change (for the worse) they have the right to close your account. If you change you buying habits( like that $700.00 purchase) that sends an alarm to them… Make sure that even if the account is closed you still continue to pay on a timely manner and maybe higher than the min. required. This will improve your credit score. Banks are a lot stricter now in doling out cards. Yes you can try your luck with other banks.
Well they probably closed it because you charged up all the way to the limit and made little payments. They probably thought you were a credit risk. You can try to contact them to see if they can re-open the account. If they won't reopen then you may have to apply for another credit card. Check out creditcards.com (one of my favorite sites!).
Cheers!
Yes, you can apply for another card with a different bank.
On the back of your statements, there should be a toll free number. You can call and ask why it was closed.
