Our realtor never said thank you or took us out to dinner to celebrate. I am thinking I should say..HEY! Why aren't you taking us out to dinner? I mean, I just made her a boat load of money…I thought that's what realtors did after closing a deal…
This is not a requirement. Some realtors do this as a courtesy. Don't think anything of it. You and your wife should enjoy your new home and celebrate among family. Congratulations on your new home!!!
Most real estate agent would not invite you to dinner or send any gifts to their clients as a show of thanks. Her job is done- You got the house and she got her commission for it. She doesn't owe you anything else after the sale has been completed. Remember although she made money off your deal, there are probably dozens of other apartments and houses that she showed which she did not get paid for. It is not easy being a real estate agent as you don't know when your next paycheck is coming in.

My real estate agent also did the same but I was not expecting anything from him when I brought my house last year.

A simple thank you note or card from the Agent should be sufficient enough.
I've never heard of it being standard to take a client out for dinner. Most of the time the client is too busy moving so maybe its more like "here's a pizza you can eat in the truck".

You paid her for her real estate services. You didn't pay her for the thank you card and dinner. I guess if you're unhappy about it you can choose not to give referrals or use her next time, but I think you're being petty.
I have never heard of this. Maybe a gift basket or something, but a full blown dinner?? Also depending on who the realtor works for, it might not be a boat load of money to them. After deductions for what the realty company takes from them, along with taxes, etc, it might not be as much money as you think! In any case, I would be happy with a thank you card in this day and age.
get a life. why would they do this. you had a business transaction. they helped you buy a house. you got the house and they got paid. maybe you should take them out to dinner.
