I want to study Employment Law via distant learning. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which certification is best. I don't have any law certifications. Starting from scratch.
It depends what you want to do with it in the end. Employment Law isn't normally studied until MA level for those wishing to take the degree route.

Are you looking to work as a soliciter? HR Advisor?
If you want to practice employment law the traditional route of applying to university to undertake a law course, open univsersity do one via distance learning and i'm sure there are others then take an MA as an employment law specialist. If you are not ready academically for this you can do an A-Level in Law or a BTEC which should give you the enterance requirments.

If you are looking to go into HR side of things as a job then you will need to start with the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice which you can do distance from the CIPD website then onto the CIPD Diploma, then MA in HRM.

Hope this helps, if you let me know your aims of doing the course I will think about what is most appropriate..
Depends what you want to do with the qualification when you have it.
If you are a member of a union the TUC hold an employment law course that can be studied by distance learning or by day release at college and gives a very good insight into the basics. Its free if your member.
Look at their web site for more info.

I work as a security guard for securitas security and start work for a local hospital soon I was just wondering what kind of "Security Issues" might I be in store for
Mental health patients off their meds
Drug seeking patients in ER
Irate people waiting to be seen
Custody issues/Divorce issues - like disruptions when a non-custodial parents tries to get in to see a child or make medical decisions.
Theft from rooms
Threats to staff for various reasons
People busting into post op or pre op without consent because they are panicing or upset about a loved one in surgery
Perhaps assisting with the chaplain or social workers if someone is trying to leave without medical consent or if a family member dies and becomes uncontrollable
Walking throughout campus buildings, parking lots/garages/ etc to patrol for loiterers or vandalism.
Sitting at a parking booth to allow docs/staff/patients access to parking area and turning people away.
The dude who is feeling homicidal and needs watched
Gang-bangers seeking retaliation (until police arrive)
The dude who just beat the crap out of his wife and can't be with her in the ER
The drunk who is belligerent (until police arrive)
The family of 20 who want to be with a loved one and can't
Psychotic patients

*usually, just the very existence of a big guy with a uniform that says SECURITY on it is enough to keep most people under control. If it gets really hairy, the local police have guns and tasers and they really like to use them.
Emotional, unreasonable patients or visitors. Maybe visitors that want to visit during off hours that are reluctant to leave without seeing a patient. Is it in a large city? If you'll be posted near the emergency entrance or waiting room, it's possible you could deal with angry patients tired of waiting. Hope your social skills are up to the task, haha..I hated being a security guard.
People stealing babies.
Suffering and screaming familes - when someone passes
Traumatic brain injury patients that might start wondering around and leave the hospital in their gowns.
People stealing furniture and pictures

I got hired at Target as a seasonal cashier and really want to make a great impression so I am asked to stay. I am punctual, flexible, have a positive attitude, and really think Target is the number 1 retailer to work for.
Well I work for Target.. I have only seen I think two or three seasonal people actually stay on after being hired for seasonal positions. One of the reasons why seasonal help is seasonal is because people don't do a lot of shopping during January, February. Our hours are cut so low its hard to survive on. your best bet is to make all your shifts, make the best impression you can on all the team leads. etc. My advice to you is to see if you can get Guest Serivce trained as well which allows you to go work that as well.
The best way to be kept as a permanent employee is to do exactly what you say your work qualities are. I was hired as a seasonal employee at Sears and when the holiday season ended they kept me full-time. Make sure you arrive on time and when you're scheduled as a seasonal employee you really can't afford to miss a day (especially since it's such a busy time of the year). Try to pick up on the job quickly. The faster you learn the more they'll think they can depend on you but don't be afraid to ask for help on something if your not sure. Be helpful. If you see something that needs to be done, just do it. Don't wait for someone to tell you. Managers like to see initiative.

Just do your best to be the best worker they ever had. Try to show that you're not only as good as the employees that are already permenant but better.

I'm finishing up my associate's in Interactive Media and I thought it's what I wanted to do for so long. But now I don't like it at all and I have no passion whatsoever! I feel like I wasted my dad's money for not pursuing this career….I want to go to more school but I'm afraid I'll end up not liking it again and wasting more money!
That money is not wasted! Things you learnt there will still be of use some time some day. I have personally known of many people who have completed their engineering studies but decided not to become an engineer. But they are all still happy.

To me, it does not means you have to do what you study. It is the learning experience you got from it that matters. In fact 70% of the people do not do what they study.

If you still want to go back to school and learn more, go ahead. Life is not about making the right decisions everytime but making your decisions right.

All the best!
Choosing a career can be a true trial, and you really want to be certain that you make the proper decision because your career can influence so many areas of your life. A mate of mine over the past few weeks had a change of career and he found loads of tips from the website in the box below in advance of making his decision.

Were do I get a new one? How much will it cost? What documents will I need? How long will it take?
You can get a new one for free. Go to www.ssa.gov and it will tell you how to order the replacement. You can either do it over the phone or go to an office in your area if it is local.

So I applied online about 2 months ago to Walmart, and just got a call to come in for an interview this Monday. The lady on the phone didn't tell me what position they had open or which Walmart store it is. Since I applied online and check several different stores, I had to call back to clarify in which store the interview would be held.

Should I call back again to see what position they're interviewing me for, or do they usually say this in the interview? It's hard to tell because I selected any job I felt would be interesting (about 5 different jobs.)
When I interviewed with Walmart they didn't tell me what position I was being interviewed for until the interview. But they were really easy-going about the whole thing, and Walmart has training programs for all the positions, so there's no worry that you won't be experienced. And often they will interview you for one position but if you don't fit they will put in a different one.
Call them back and say this. (Works very well.)

"Hi. I'm calling about the job interview appointment. I'll be out interviewing for a few different jobs that day. I'm trying to find a job which is a good fit for me. What positions are open?"

That will demonstrate real interest in the job. But it will also let the person know that you're out looking. They may miss you as a potential employee if they can't offer you a job that is interesting. See what I mean? You want them to offer you a job you'll like. So make them believe you're looking and haven't settled on Walmart yet.
They'll let you know at the interview so dont sweat it. The interview "strategy" for a cashier vs. a stock person at WalMart really doesnt vary much.

And really, unless you're painted into a corner, do you want to work there? Theres a lot better places to earn a paycheck
If you need a job, I wouldn't really care what position it was, at least I would be able to get my foot in the door and move from there. No I would not call her back. Good luck with the interview and I hope you get the job.
well they would probably tell you in the interview but i am not sure my sisters would probably know about this stuff because one of my big sisters is getting a job but any who i would say call but you should probably wait
It's an entry level position. Those are all the same, either on the floor or working the register. They'll put you where they need you. They're getting ready for Christmas. But they could keep you beyond the season if you work out.
I would wait it out and see which job they are offering you (rather than calling again). They could be doing a general interview to see which job would be best for you.

Good luck!
They'll tell you in the Interview. They may have a choice for you also.
The interviewer should tell you right when you get to the interview or soon after.
if they dont, ask. im sure they won't mind you asking.

good luck with your interview =]
no, dont stress. go to your interview and then after the interview ask what position is open.

good luck

Which loan should I pay-off first?

I been trying to pay-off my debts…
I am undecided which on to pay off first.
An $800 student loan (%5 apr)

or

A $4800 credit card ( apr)

Please, advice…
The credit card for two reasons. First you will spend less money in interest. Second the interest on the student loan can go against your income to reduce your taxes.
Forget the people that say pay off the credit card first, I would knock out the student loan since I could pay that off in like four months while it would still be 2 years to pay off the credit card. Then once you have the smallest one paid off, attack that credit card with everything you got.
Credit card - the interest rate is much higher. You are paying $40 a month in just interest alone on that one, which is probably more than your whole student loan payment.

Once you pay off the credit card, then tackle the student loan.
Credit card.
Credit cards are considered revolving unsecured debt (bad debt) and weigh heavily on your credit worthiness.

Student loans - everyone has them - and the interest rate is pretty low.

credit card. cut it up or hide it where it cannot be used.

What jobs are worth doing in medicine?

I know, before even asking, all jobs are essential - from changing the bedsheets to brain surgery. But I was just wondering, what type of job is more satisfying?

I'm not smart enough to be a doctor, but would really love to give being a paramedic or a nurse a try. Has anyone here occupied one of those job roles? Or know what it's like?

Pay isn't important to me, and I can put up with strained shifts. But none the less, I just want a career in medicine where I'm actually useful ;-)
I am currently trying to get into the ambulance service as a trainee paramedic, I think that this or nursing is one of the most rewarding jobs that you can have
A trage nurse in the army. Our troops need good people to help them

I've been employed by this company for two years and was always insured through Cigna. They just anounced that they will switch to BlueCross BlueShield. How good or bad is BCBS compared to Cigna? Is it going to be more expensive for me? Am I going to have better coverage if I need to go to the doctor? I live in North Carolina.
In general, neither one is any better than the other. Which one you like and the cost would depend upon what is covered under each policy, how they cover what is most important to you, if your current doctor accepts the new plan, and many more factors. Premiums usually go up each year, and when a business changes companies it is normally because the new plan will be cheaper than the old plan will be (not that the new plan will be cheaper than the old plan was).
price wise, that is up to your employer and the contract they signed. no one here can tell you that. coverage wise, again it all depends on the contract signed by your employer. no one here can tell you.

claims processing wise, bcbs is better than cigna. i have been in insurance over 25 years and cigna is one of the worst at claims processing.
Better how? And, keep in mind that everyone who answers outside of North Carolina won't know how BlueCross BlueShield is there because your BCBS is different than the one in Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Georgia, etc… As far as the cost and what the plan covers you'd ask at work.

Ok.. I use my real number to get something.. And it said it charges.. 9.99 each month.. and i use it on a few of those surveys.. Are they really going to charge it or do u get an email confirmation before that happens? Plz tell me.. If they really charges.. im dead..
ya this is the question with which many teenagers have gone into even a once.first of all look at the type of surveys u r going into .if it is meant for some public welfare and also it is undertaken by some reputed organisation then u can give ur cell number.another way to check that is the URL.most of the fake organisations try to show u that they r associated with some browser software companies. they also mention the subscriptions details, which u can set according to ur needs.BUT ALWAYS BEWARE OF FAKE/BLUE/NUDE/SOCIALLY OPPOSITE SITES AND NEVER SHARE UR PERSONAL INFORMATION REGARDING CELL NO/CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS.thanks and have a nice day
