Can I get a Job at 14 Yrs Old?

Would I be able/ask to get a job, say the co-op around the corner, and not seem weird because I am only 14.
No, not at the co-op around the corner, because of your age.

However, here's a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income:

1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

2. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

3. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

4. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

5. Visit your nearest beauty salon and ask to be trained as a shampoo person who is also willing to sweep up fallen hair on the ground and do set ups [arranging dye kits, curler holders, etc.] for a set hourly fee.

6. Become a sign flipper by contacting your nearest realtor. A flipper is someone who stands at a major intersection and flips a "For Lease/Rental" sign in order to attract visitors to an open house or to a particular real estate listing. The hourly pay is at least the minimum wage.

Good luck!
It depends on where you live. Here in Saskatchewan they put the minimum working age at 14 again, but you can only work for 16 hours a week.
only paper round, restaurants or hairdressers as far as i know, but there's not legal minimum wage and there's strict regulations on working hours
no you cant you have to be at least 15 years old to get a job.
Ask your parents for a raise in your allowance, young'n!

Hi, hope someone can help me.
I had my probationary period extended due to them giving me a bad review. I have spoken to previous employers and they are shocked at the accusations I was getting in my new job and some have even offered to represent me in future meetings with my new employer. However, I know that if I get dismissed after my probationary period, that I have no legal leg to stand on. Today I was told to document every single thing I do each day and to hand it to my manager at the end of the week. It has to be as detailed as possible, with detailed descriptions on every hour of the day. I feel absolutly humiliated and the feedback I am getting from people I am working with is fantastic, however I can't rely on their support as they are worried about their jobs, too. There isn't much hope that I could find another job soon and I rely on the money. Is there any support I can have whilst in my probationary period? I am also worried about getting bad references if i do something about them. I am a hard working person, full of enthuisiasm for my work, but this bullying is wearing me down slowly and I am worried about my professional reputation.
Thank you for your help.
I had to go through the same **** in my last job and unfortunately for me i did get dismissed but i know how i could have prevented it

Please join the trade union, and try and go to a higher up manager, NOT the line manager. Its seems to be bullying to me, they know that this is a probabtionary period and as they have the power they can do what the hell they like if your face doesnt fit.

I was also told to write down everytrhing i was doing and keep a diary and i thought "f**k off, im not writing no diary".

Im not sure what advice i can give, as i said i did get dismissed but i managed to get another job through sheer luck.

If thing get worse and it leads to a disciplinary then RESIGN- do not let fire you, that would be extremely damaging.

You can resign on the grounds of bullying- its an acceptable reason. You can say that you tried to reach an amicable decision but your managers were less than reasonable.

Have you consulted HR about this. There should be some kind of employee advice line service, or try going to citizens advice for help.

Above all, Dont let the bastards win because they are trying to drag you down.
You @issed someone off……your done there……start looking for another job….try to make a case against them and your out the door……..sorry…….
I am sorry but just where is the "bullying" you refer to? Despite your own assessment of yourself, and your previous employers alleged reactions to your situation (i have never heard of anyone discussing a problem they are having at work with a previous employer, nor can i envisage a previous employer offering to represent an ex-employee at a disciplinary meeting with their new employers!) it is obvious that somewhere along the line you are badly failing to meet up with your new employers expectations. It is equally obvious that they do not consider you are fulfilling the duties they expect of you hence their requirement for you to submit a detailed diary of an average day. This is NOT bullying by any stretch of the imagination.

You say that you are worried about getting a bad reference if you "do something about them". They cannot give you a "bad" reference as such.

For things to have reached the stage that they are at now there has to be a huge gulf between your actual performance in the job and what they expected your performance to be based on information you gave about your experience and skills at the interview stage. In each of the few times i have seen this sort of situation the employee had previously worked for small companies where they were highly regarded (big fish in small ponds) and had moved on to a large company where the environment, expectations and pressures were very different.

I think that you have little option but to swallow your humiliation, comply with their request and to try to find out at the next meeting exactly how, where and when, you are not meeting their expectations.
Your feeling of self worth may well have received a nasty dent but i just do not agree that you are being "bullied". Their opinion is that you are not doing the job in accordance with their expectations. They could have called quits at the end of your standard probationary period, but they extended your probation period instead - in other words gave you the time and opportunity to come up to scratch. That is hardly bullying.

hello,i've applied for a job at argos and been to a group interview today they'll let me know over the weekend if i got the job or not,the thing is,i need a temporary job because i don't live in england and i'm only here till december .. (of course they don't know) they said i'll have a contract till the 31st of december and will be paid monthly (every 28th).. what i would like to know is.. what happens if i leave the Job before the 31st of december? and will you get paid on your training days too?
thank you to anyone who can give me some information
If you wish to leave the job early then all you need to do is give your notice which is usually a week. They will pay you for all the work you have done up to that point. Some companies pay for training days but not all do, you will need to ask that if and when you get the job. Usually training days or inductions are part of your working week so they should pay you for the full hours your there but you'll need to check.

UPS should reject it if it's a US priority or express mail box as it's illegal to use those for any other shipping method.

If you are not reaching that limit, there are also pretax medical savings accounts. They work out very well if you have somewhat predictable medical expenses. It is pretty much the same and there are no requirements.
It's wise to just get some software like Taxcut and list your expenses. It will advise you which route to take. If you are a little short, you can break a leg.
You have to be able to itemize. Then you add to the itemized deduction total when your medical bills are MORE than 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income.
You can only claim your med and dental expenses that are over 7.5% of your AGI, and even then only if you itemize.
Holy is gay now too?

I am a college student in my first year. I get about 100 spam emails a day, so I don't read my student emails unless they are from a professor.

Anyways I got a health insurance card today from Aetna (along with a bill for $473) because I did not waive my health insurance by the "deadline" Even though I am fully covered medical and dental under my parents.

I called Aetna on the phone and told them I am covered and they basically said to bad. I went to the school and they said the same thing. Is there anyway they can make me pay the bill?
That's not done via email. That's one of the little "gotchas" that the schools charge you for. It would have been in your registration paperwork.
Health insurance thru whom/what? The school? In other words, you are automatically enrolled unless you opt out? In that case, you may be stuck - speak to the school office that handles the insurance plan. If you are covered under your parents' plan, that could be a valid reason to opt out.

Boosting Credit Score?

How many points can a credit score go up when credit card balances are paid down? For example, if you have a score of 600 and you have 3 credit cards 2 with balances over 60% of the credit limit and one with a balance over the credit. If you pay down all 3 cards to under 40% of the credit limit, how much can your score jump?
unfortunately not much. Your credit goes down much faster than it goes up. The one with the balance over is killing you. Your score will probably only go up to like 607-612, no joke.
I think that you would benefit from reading this very thorough, informational article on how credit scores are calculated:

http://www.creditinfocenter.com/creditreports/scoring/scoringinfluences.shtml

It breaks it down completely into the different aspects of scoring. It is free advice from a very well informed consumer advocate.

Good Luck!
you can try using the free fico credit score calculator. first use it with balances and then redue the calculator with balances paid down. see if there is a difference.
http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/financial_literacy/fico-estimator.asp
Continue to pay your bills on time and not outstanding credit cards. But it's going to take some time to raise your score.
Сredit repair workеd fine to fix my credit. They disputed and removed lots of bad items from my credit report. I used this service - creditreport.imess.net
Maybe 20 points. If your score is in the 600 range, you've got bigger problems than credit utilization ratios.

Discover sent me something saying "As a Preferred Cardmember with our esteemed "5.0 Superior" rating, you could pay off $15,000 in high interest loans with the special Discover(R) Personal Loan program."

1. Does this mean that Discover thinks that I owe "$15,000 in high interest loans"? I did not know about this debt. Should I check my credit report to see who is reporting that I owe this much? Or does Discover just mean that, if I had that much in high interest loans, then I would be able to pay off the debt, not that I actually do owe that much?

2. What does "5.0 Superior" mean? What is the formula to convert a Discover rating into a FICO score?
It only means that they think $15,000 will get your attention. 5.0 means absolutely nothing. It's just a marketing gimmick. They send the exact same mail to thousands of cardholders every week, just trying to sell high interest loans.

Only after you apply do they check your real credit rating and deciede how much they can lend you and what rate they will charge.
Unless you get a bill, then no you don't owe that lol.
In today's economy, it seems that everyone is in debt, so it would appear that discover is trying to use that as a marketing ploy, so people who have high interest loans can get a lower interest loan to play off the higher loan with.
I have no Idea what 5.0 Superior means. what I do know is they put that in there to make it sound more impressive.
I have a answer your first question:
NO, YOU DON'T OWE THEM $15,000 dollars. If you had a $15k debt then you could enter the personal loan program to clear your debt but pay high interest rate.

Pros: Clearing all your debt you owe.

Con's: owing Discover $15,000 high interest. -

I don't have an answer to your second question- Sorry
