does he mean long number on the front of my debit card or does he need more info in order to send me money?
he needs your bank sort code and account number not the card details. Don't tell anyone the numbers on the back, he may be OK but he may write them down, you don't know who his friends are.

if you have a paypal account perhaps he could credit that instead
He will need your account number, sort code and the name of the bank you hold the account with.

The long number on the front of the card will not give the bank your brother goes to enough information to transfer funds, as this number is only the number allocated to the card you hold, and does not refer to your account details.
For security reasons, do not send credit card details in a text message. Call him, make sure you recognize his voice, ask what he needs to know, verify that no one else is listening where you are or where he is, and then tell him the information.

Your account number and sort code is what he needs to send you money. Do not send your long card number…. he doesn't need that or any other info off your card he can't send money to your card only to your account…. enjoy spending
If it's a bank account- he'll need your name (which I assume he already has), your account number (the long number on the card that's printed in small letters) and your sort code (it's in the format xx-xx-xx).

Give him your name as it appears on the card, your account number ( usually 8 numbers ) and the sort code

if u give him the card number he may try and take money from it
He needs your account number and probably the bank routing number.
Sounds like he has run out of money and is trying to get your card details so he can scam a few quid of your card..!!
no way there is places that will send money for u do not give ur brother ur debit card number he is probably trying to scam u
