Any suggestions i have had good credit up till recently with this late payment… thankyou so much for any and all help.=)
As long as it hasn't been 30 days you will only get a late fee on your next statement and possibly your interest rate being jacked up to 28% or more. If you go past 30 days, that is when they would report you to the credit bureaus.
You'll be hit with a late fee of around $40 and expect your interest rate to go way up. You will not officially be "late" on your credit report until you go 30 days past due from the due date.
Credit card companies usually have hardship programs….but the problem is that you have to be at least 2 months past due to get any help . Another option is to enter into a debt management program. Contact your local Red Cross for a referral to the local Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS). They can negotiate reduced interest and payments. They will require you to stop using all credit and to cut up your cards. Your credit report will be updated to "enrolled in debt management." This does not damage your credit, but it may make it difficult to obtain new credit while you are enrolled in their program….so don't use this service if you anticipate applying for a new apartment, car loan or mortgage anytime soon, as you would might be denied while you're enrolled in the CCCS debt management program…
If you have absolutely no money at all then there is no point in entering the CCCS program…you'll just have to ride it out and hope that your financial situation improves.
Pay the minimum balance before the account becomes 30 days past due and it will not be reported on your credit report.
See if you can borrow the minimum amount from a family member or friend, you do not a late payment to be reported, late payments can be reported for 7 years.
You need to find a way to make a payment fast. Your credit card company will charge you a late fee and probably raise your interest rate. You will owe even more money next month. Can you borrow money from a family member?
You should stop using your credit card if you have not already done so. You should also stay away from payday loans.
