How come Wal-Marts moto says "Save Money, Live Better, Wal-Mart" when you are not saving money, if you wanted to save money you would not shop there. If you shop there you are losing money, not saving it (even if it is cheaper you are still losing money).
Their slogan/motto isn't meant to be thought about very deeply. When they say "save money", they just mean "our prices are lower than other store's prices", that's all.
They don't mean:
- You will end up spending more money (instead of saving it) when the cheap junk you bought here breaks in a year and you have to replace it.
- You will end up with a lower standard of living once all the wealth of the United States has been transferred to China.
Well, unless you like being a complete slob, you're going to have to spend money at some point or another on things like shampoo, toothbrushes, soap, etc. Wal-Mart is talking about the money you'll save shopping there as opposed to another place, which happens to be more expensive. So in the long run, you /are/ saving money.
Nope. I disagree. While neither endorsing or dis-endorsing Walmart, here's what I think the intention of the slogan:
You will save money, if you buy what you need for daily living at Walmart *such that* if you have bought it somewhere else, it will cost you more.
Say you need to buy dishwasher soap that will cost 2.99 at YYY Store, but you go to Walmart and buy the same soap for 2.39. You just saved a whopping 60 cents compared to shopping at YYY Store.
If you buy other stuff you need daily (tooth paste, pasta, bread, yadda.. yadda…) and say.. each save you roughly 50 cents, and you bought 100 of them in a year, you'd save $50 for the year… which you can plunge to either your retirement fund or to a slot machine somewhere in Vegas. =)
Exactly. I thought this myself. That's almost as bad as "Always low prices. Always" -they've already raised prices and after they drive almost all of the other stores out of business, then we will see how high they jack up their prices. They will own us all, body and soul. It will be like the old company stores from back in the day, but worse. Much worse . . .watch and see
really? you really think that?
If you shop there (or anywhere) you are spending money, or as you put 'losing money' lets break in down:
Save money = prices are lower
Live Better = you have money you saved by buying at a lower price to spend on whatever you want.
my thoughts exactly. all stores usually lie about their slogans.
