I'll be calling my bank in a few days, I won't have time until then. But this is really bothering me and I was wondering if maybe you could help give me a general answer.
I went to a smoothie shop the other day, right after i checked my bank account for funds. i had over enough to cover the charge yet the card kept getting declined and saying "Card Use Limited". I know my pin and account were correct, and I hadn't used any funds that day at all.
My bank account is through Scotiabank. what could it be..? please help?
Allot of times cards will get declined because there is so much activity on that network at the time you attempted to use it. Try it again at a time when few people are shopping.
Your ATM statement should be updated every 24 hours. This has happened to me several times when I have been abroad. In my case it was a security check and the block was lifted as soon as I called and they checked some of the transactions were in fact mine. There could also be an unusual or large recent transaction that has triggered a security check.
Another thing which triggers a block is if a retailer doesn't complete a transaction, for instance if they disconnect part way through a transaction and start again, that can set up a block.
If you know the funds are there it is almost certainly a security block.

When you checked your bank account, the money that was listed there could be the money that you had at the beginning of the week. In ATMs your funds are updated once a week.
Atleast that's how it works for my card.
You probably have a daily cash limit on your account that only allows so much money with-drawls per day. Also many bank only release so much till your last deposit actually goes through.
