Our neighbor leaves her garbage in the hallway to rot, food outside rotting and bottles and cans all over the front yard. We have contacted our landlord who will only deal with the issues that will get him fined by the city i.e. the garbage. She has loud parties every night etc… we can not move… she is under lease we are not… the city does random property inspections and fines the tenants NOT the property owner for all the junk outside… if the owner is eventually fined by the city he will raise OUR rent not hers as to the fact he legally can't.
Most states have Landlord/Tenant Court. Make a petition to be heard in court. Take pictures and get witnesses.
You are not under a lease. You CAN move with thirty days advance notice. If you are that bothered by the situation, simply clean up the garbage. We're talking a fifteen minute job here, aren't we ?
FOLLOW UP: If that garbage was there for two months, this is not a new problem, and you COULD have moved, since it apparently started in June. If you tolerated twenty bags of garbage in the hall for two months, your ladder isn't quite reaching the roof.
All you can do is call the police (for noise) or the city (for the garbage)every time there is a problem. If the landlord gets enough complaints maybe he will do something about it.
Nobody can dictate when you can or can not move. If you are month to month, then you need thirty days notice and a U-Haul truck. Don't pay your rent next month and see how long they give you.
that would be a health issue and someone needs to be notified depending on your state you can call your local social services and they will direct you to whom you need to speak with
legally if the landlord is not doing his job and things you can move and if your not under a lease then you have every right to move with 30 days notice
You need to MOVE or you need to change your attitude.
It must suck to be you.
