i have just decided to go back to studying so i can get a degree and hopefully a better job. This will then let me move back to my hometown, which i really do miss. The decisions im making now seem so stressful, and i cant help but think why oh why didnt i just do it this way in the first place. Has anyone else ever felt like this?
After 7 years working in 'the real world', I went to Drama School and trained to be a Stage Manager. There were times that I wished I had decided earlier, but I know know that experience in my other jobs has helped in my current career. I also had a ball going back into education as I was doing something that I really enjoyed. Sometimes it just takes longer for some of us to know what we want to do. I always envied those who knew from an early age what they wanted to do, but from the people I was at Drama School with, only a very small number are still in the business. I have never regretted the change in career. Look forward to a new life and possibilities and enjoy your studies.
The fact is you figured out what you needed to do NOW, and it is not too late. You can't change the past and hopefully when you have kids you'll stress the importance of getting a degree to them rather than having them figure it out when they are 24. A lot of kids get sidetracked and tangent away from what's important once they turn 18, you're not the only one. Kudos to you for wanting to make your life worth something more. Don't let the fact you're late in the game discourage you, once you get your degree it won't really matter when you started school anyway.
I realised a little younger than that where I wanted to go with life. Unfortunately it hasn't completely worked out as I would like.
It took me a lot longer than that.
