I've had a carry on with the bank over the weekend, i paid in £367.50 into the bank on saturday and when i checked my balance later i was £100 short, when i queried this with the bank they told me that i didn't pay this amount in and i only paid £267.50 (which is nonsense) my statement shows that they have taken the £367.50 out of my account and then credited £267.50 back into my account, so really they have theived this £100 from me, do they have the right to do this? If there was a mistake surely they should ring me about it? Can someone help please?

I'm gonna starve now because i have no money to live off!!
If you paid cash over the counter to a cashier then the bank have made a mistake as the money would be counted at the time - they can't come back later and say that you didn't pay that amount.
If you paid the cash in through a machine that counts the money as you pay it in then you would have a receipt for the amount.
If you paid cash into a machine in an envelope then you haven't really got a leg to stand on because you don't have a receipt and the bank can easily say that the amount written on the envelope did not correspond with the cash inside. Your statement will show the £367 going in because that was what was on the envelope, then it will show the adjustment.
The bank haven't taken £100 out of your account - they are saying that it was never in your account.
Was this by cheque? Do you have the receipt of when you paid in it?
Without proof you would have no grounds unfortunately. If it is a cheque then they could dig out the actual cheque to check the amount stated, and look at their computer records for the amount they paid in.

Have you actually asked them what the £100 charge was for?

If they haven't made an honest mistake, you can always contact the financial ombudsman.
As others said if you have your receipt then you have proof, but that still doesn't mean you will get the extra hundred.

Was it a check you put in? Cause if you used a check they can bring up an image to see if it was 267 or 367.

What may have happened is in the numerical part it said 367, but in the written part it said 267. So the bank it was drawn on sent it back for 267 vs. 367.
How are you going to starve ? You have 267.50 in your account.

Your aren't specific as to how and in what form you deposited the money. Until you get that straightened there is much speculation.

Cash, payroll check at the teller window, ATM machine.

Good luck, eat crackers and water for awhile.
Have you check and are very sure that the amount is paid is 367.50 and not 267.50. It is not good to accuse your bank unless you are very sure that they had made the mistake.
Use your receipt, that's why you have this to prove what you actually did do. Then they will take care of it, it's not a big deal, unless you do not keep your receipts!
Your statement shows the mis-recorded your 267.50 deposit as 367.50 and corrected the error when it was discovered. And NO, they would not call you about a mistake.
So back and show them the receipt/statement etc.
We have been through this before. If you have the reciept they are liable.

My employer fired me because of the last warning I received. However I didnt sign it because I didnt agree with it.. but that not all, they gave me more warning(4) while I was working there that I did signed.
Hard to tell.

When you apply for unemployment, the Unemployment agency sends a questionnaire to your last employer, asking why you no longer work there.
It depends if the employer wants to be a hardass, or he is just glad to be rid of you. He may indicate you were left go due to substandard work, in which case you might be ok, or he can say you refused to follow a lawful order, in which case you may not be eligible.
You won't know until the UC people send the letter and the employer reviews it and replies.

There is a job at the federal government that I want, but it is full. So I asked the human resource specialist can I volunteer until an opening is available. She said they had never had any volunteer before and she have to talk to her boss, which wouldn’t be back at work until next week at that time. She said because she really liked how excited I was about working there, she will do everything in her power to get me a job or at least volunteer. A week later, I called the specialist to know what was going on and she said that she had talked to her boss and approved it, but now her boss have to talk to the people I would have to work for. So my question is should I do anything else or just wait to hear from her? If I should wait, should I at least write a “thank you for considering me” note???
I'd wait a little bit and then call back the specialist after a while if you don't hear from them. The hiring process with the federal government moves really, really slow so it's probably not at all weird that you haven't heard from them yet.

Is Amway/Quixtar a cult?

Well … it's a "multi-level" pyramid scheme, to say the least …

AVOID IT … anything even associated with the term "down-line" is a SCAM.
That depends what you mean both by´"Amway/Quixtar" and by "cult". The Amway network consists of millions of independent business owners, operating in a myriad of ways. Many people who use Amway products or operate Amway businesses are passionate about Amway in much the same way Apple uses are passionate about Apple products - and as you probably know, Apple fanatics have been called cult-like too.

If you mean "cult" as in some kind of religious group where you're forced to do things you wouldn't normally do, and to obey leaders without question etc - then no, Amway is not a cult. There are Amway field leaders who have loyal followers, as there are in any business or other endeavour. The reality is though, the majority of people who get involved with Amway do exactly as they want (which is usually not much!), and hardly anybody actually does what their "upline" tells them to do! If it's a cult it's got to be one of the world's least effective ones :)

What Amway is, is one of the world's largest and most successful direct selling companies. Amway has won awards from the UN for enivronmental activisim, and for ethics from the US Chamber of Commerce. Amway scientists and researchers have published hundreds of papers and registered hundreds of patents. It's brands like Nutrilite and Artistry are some of the best selling and best regarded in the world, having won numerous awards and accolades. It's a great company to be associated with, and the products are simply the best
No it is not a cult, however it is a company that you have to work very
hard and sell their products. It is a multi-level pyramid company - even
if they tell you it is not - and by this unless you are able to work your
way up the ladder, you will not make very much money. Their products
are good but way over priced.
It's funny , people use the term pyramid and have no idea what a pyramid is…. Pyramids are illegal…. It's where the money flows up but nothing of value comes back down. The income from an Amway Business only comes from the sale of products, not from recruiting people…
Do you really think a company would be in business for 50 years, have over $8 billion in sales last year, and have partners like Microsoft, Bass Pro Shop, Office Depot and about 1100 other companies.. if it were doing something illegal ?
Is it a cult? If you call a group of successful people who are willing to teach others how to be successful in all areas of life a cult, then I guess it is…. If you feel this way… Keep your job, Kiss your boss, and stay away from AMWAY…. If you are looking for a opportunity for FREEDOM.. in a business of your own , take a closer look … It works for me….

Can you do this in real estate?

Ok, can someone buy two lots or two houses and build a house on top of them or do they have to buy one lot or house?
Of course you can buy two lots and combine them. There would be two tax bills until you asked the county to combine the tax numbers. You couldn't build between the properties if there is a utility easement. I think a lot of legal fees would be involved.
Yes you can ,
however realize that if you are buying 2 lots and then combining the lots for 1 house as an example the entire package is worth less in terms of resale for the simple reason that you now have 1 property as apposed too 2.

A good idea here if possible is too build the new house on one property only & use the second property as well. This way if the need ever arises for $ you are free to sell the second lot at a profit.
Hope this helps !

I applied for Youth Allowance (student) about 3 weeks ago and took in all the forms and things they needed to put it through. They said they'd send me a letter to notify me whether or not my claim had been successful.
I know they're a slow government organization but 3 weeks seems a bit ridiculous to wait for something that I need quite urgently.

How long is it supposed to take for them to get back to you?
sometimes it can take up to 6 weeks. if i were you i'd go in at least once a week to ask how its going. they will either give it to you or deny you. if you're denied they need to give you a reason.

Hi

I was wondering if there was anyway to activate my temporary Bank of America debit card ONLINE?

I tried to phone them but currently there is no one available because they only work from 8-to-5 i think.
Bank of America representatives can be reached until 10 pm est. 1-800-472-1000. You might try logging into your BOA account. There is a section where your can service your debit card. Go under Customer service then choose manage checkcard setting. There is an activation area there.
make sure you dialed the right number check to see if it's an 888 or 800 number. listen to the prompts. usually, you don't need to speak with a real person to activate cards of any sort. it's usually a computer that answers and it's available 24/7. If you have trouble followng the propmts on the phone, you can go to any branch, and they will activate it for you.
Use the card at a Bank of America ATM machine. That will activate it. Even if only to inquire the balance.
the1- 800 number should be available 24/7
both are right. dont forget to sign the back. and its 8-10pm (i just tried calling.. missed them by 15 minutes).

I just recieved my credit card from 1st financial bank usa. I called and activated it. But i want to go to walmart on Wednesday. Do i need a pin number (like you need with a debit card). Or do i just slide my card and it accepts. I'm not really planning on using an atm machine to get cash.
if you hit the key on the screen that says "credit" rather than "debit" then you don't need a pin, you just need to sign the slip.

You only need a pin if you use an atm (watch out for those enormous charges!) or it you accidentally hit the "debit" key, instead of "credit" (which makes the checkout terminal into a semi-atm, which is why you need the pin).
If using a credit card to make a purchase, PIN is not at all needed. A signature will be required. Sometimes under $50.00 merchant - like Walmart won't even need a signature. Always keep your receipts and match them with the transactions on your statement. PIN is only needed if you are taking a cash advance - usually done at any bank or ATM machines

Take care of your credit and your credit will take care of you.
With your financial knowledge, cut it up and throw it away.

It is not something to be taken lightly, and you don't seem to have the knowledge yet to use it without ruining your life.

After you get some more financial education then call up the bank and get the card replaced.
destroy it..havent you seen what they do to people..look what theve done to america..debt.debt..debt..and dont say youll just buy small stuff or youll make the monthly payments cause that will work for the first 90 days and than your screwed..credit score ruined.. pay cash..good luck..dont say you werent warned..
You don't use a pin with credit cards, you just swipe and sign *but* my suggestion is - if you don't know how to use a credit card, DON'T.

Sounds to me like you're taking your first step into a life of credit card debt.
If you activated it, all you need to do is swipe the card when you pay at the register, and have the cashier run as a credit card, not a debit, so you do not have to enter a PIN.
When you called to activate it they would have given you a pin. If they didn't then all you have to do is swipe it when you pay.
To use the credit card all you have to do is slide the card through the machine (you don't need a PIN number, although some places ask for your zip code).
You just have to swipe it. You won't be able to get cash from it, but you can use it to purchase goods and services.
No, you do not need a PIN to use a credit card to pay for a purchase at Wal-Mart.
You will need a PIN #

They'll probably send it to you in the mail.
It will ask you if it's a credit or debit… choose credit if you don't want to be asked for a pin

Is this college path a bad idea?

Alright so I'm going into grade 11 but I know for sure I want to be a nurse after I graduate high school.

Here's my plan: Go to college for 2 years to become an LPN then go to a university for 4 more years to become an RN.

The reason I chose this path is because if I want to get into a college for LPN, all the prerequisites for it are college level courses in high school, not university level, therefore, the work is slightly easier.

If I chose to go to a university to become an RN right away, I have to take all university level courses in high school. I want to take college level courses, especially for math because I struggle with it.

Is this an okay plan or are there other ways?
Well, my mom's an R.N. I'll ask her about what she did an email you if that's ok
Do you understand what you are asking?

LPN's that are working have a much harder time going to school for the RN. Bite the bullet and do whatever it takes for you to fast-track into the RN system.

Get a tutor for the math. It'll be cheaper than taking several courses to understand it.
