Hello, I recently returned from travelling and have started work about 1 month ago. Does anyone know if I pay less/more tax in my first pay or over the whole year becuase I haven't work for nearly 2 months of the tax year?
Thanks
You will have 2 months unused tax allowances to set against your first month's pay, so you will pay less tax in that month than you will for the rest of the year.
its better if you pay your tax monthly because you wont need to feel burden in the next month to come .Similarly if you par your tax monthly then you wont get penalty from government . So my suggestion is to pay your tax monthly. for more detail you can look.

Normally the salary that we receive is received under PAYE(Pay As You Earn) which means that we receive salary net of any taxes. You have to pay tax on the income earned in a year.
