"Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown
A problem caused Windows to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."

Also, although my laptop will work for a bit it has a tendency to go to a blue screen and reboot, many times going to the screen for a choice of Safe Mode.

What exactly could the problem be? What is something I could do to fix it?

Also, before this began, I open a file that I discovered after a scan that it was a Trojan Virus which was contained and then gotten rid of.

Lastly, for anyone wanting to comment on my level of intelligence, when it comes to computers, well, let's say, in this area I am quite ignorant and completely understand that I seriously screwed up opening what-ever-it was I opened and I am just hoping the two incidents are in no way connected and if they are I hope just as much that I may be able to repair it.

Thanks.
Hmm… This does sound like a typical trojan style program, but it could be other things- first of all when eve your cpu displays a bluescreen in vista, vista logs it as an unexpected error and will inform you of this upon reeboot, so heres what you do click start(assuming you run vista if not click start, run) type msconfig, click boot tab, click safe boot w/ networking, run you antivius software(i reccomend shelling out 59.99 for mcafee) and you laughing. if this doesnt solve the problem, let me know— teamcanadawithcody@yahoo.ca
Check the device manager and see if any of your hardware is indicating driver problems.
Unexpected shutdowns often damage the hardware drivers, which can cause the blue screen shutdowns.
